The Centre
The Comboyne Community Centre is a multi-purpose centre which was originally funded by Rural Transaction Centre and Community Technology Centre funding. A group of community members were involved in applying for grants and funding for establishment of the Centre. These people have spent many hours of volunteering to renovate and establish the Centre and keep it operating. The land and the Centre itsself are owned and managed by the Comboyne Community Association Inc.

Currently, the Community Centre Manager, Marg Duffy is employed one day a week. She is also employed as a Project Officer, working on a number of community projects for an additional 3 days per week. The Centre is open 7 days per week. There are approximately 15 volunteers who work at the Centre and help to do maintenance of the building and grounds.

We offer a large range of services including:

Library
There is a branch of the Hastings Public Library in the building. Through OPAC, we can link with the main library for research, book borrowing and returns. We also have a Community Library. It is a large selection of books donated by the community.

Medicare and Centrelink
We are an agency for Medicare and Centrelink. A doctor comes to Comboyne once a week for a Bulk Billing Clinic. On a six-monthly basis there is a women's health clinic and we have had health professionals visit for men's health talks.

Computers, Training and Technology
There is a computer/training room with five computers for training, public use and internet access. The computers have a range of software programs, there is a scanner, B&W laser printer, colour inkject printer and scanner. The Centre has a digital camera, video camera and data projector for community activities.

Financial Services
An agency of the Holiday Coast Credit Union is based in the Centre. Deposits of cash and cheques can be made into the safe in the building.

Art and Craft
The art and craft shop is an important part of the Centre featuring locally made arts and crafts which are sold on commission. We have a good turnover and there is a strong ethic of supporting local individuals and small businesses.

Community Newsletter
Each week volunteers produce the Comboyne Circular a double A3 page newsletter of community news and events. The circulation is currently 275 copies which are sent out in the mail each week.

Other...
There are many other uses made of the Centre including first aid courses, computer courses and other special interest gatherings. We plan to hold local produce markets once a month beginning in May.
